Payworld brings Wero to the payment terminal in European First

PAX Technology, one of the world’s leading payment terminal solutions providers, is pleased to recognise an important European payments milestone from long-standing PAX customer Payworld, which has introduced Wero QR payments on the PAX A8900.

Payworld says it is the first company in Europe to enable Wero acceptance on a payment terminal. The Wero QR code is displayed on the A8900, the customer scans it with their smartphone, and the payment is completed instantly — creating a simple, fully integrated in-store payment experience.

Wero is the European digital payment solution created by the European Payments Initiative (EPI). Designed in Europe for Europe, it enables instant account-to-account payments directly from a customer’s bank account and is expanding from person-to-person transfers into e-commerce, in-store payments and other everyday payment use cases.

Payworld has been a long-term user of PAX technology in Belgium, supplied through Novelpay, PAX Technology’s Poland-headquartered channel partner. The latest Wero deployment demonstrates how open Android payment platforms can help PSPs introduce new payment methods quickly while continuing to use familiar terminal infrastructure.
